Astrology…A Connection to the Creator

In Kabbalistic Astrology the story goes that our soul knows what we have accomplished and what we have left to manifest. And before our soul agrees to another earthly turn, there is a meeting with the Creator and our Guardian Angel where we choose our parents, place of birth, family group, all the circumstances of our lives in order to achieve the purpose we agree to manifest this time around. We know exactly what it is we need to do and then right before we are to make our appearance in another body, our Guardian Angel reaches over, places a forefinger on our lips underneath our nose and says, ‘sshhh’. Our human brain forgets everything, and the journey called life is spent remembering and working our way back to the Creator. This action is also responsible for the indentation above our upper lip!

The second we are born produces a map, a contract, if you will, of the above-mentioned agreement. It is called a Natal Chart. It contains so much information. Information on what talents and challenges we are likely to have in 12 major areas of our life. What our purpose in this life is. What we were probably like in our past life and how that affects us in this life. It reflects the physical hurdles we may have the opportunity to work through. And everyone’s map is different.

Would it be beneficial to have an idea of what that agreement was as you move through this life, rather than stumble around half-blind and asking yourself, ‘why is this happening to me?’

I would like to point out that astrology does not predict anything. We have free will. It is why one person who is say, a Taurus, will behave in a different way than someone else who is also a Taurus. It is why twins who are born minutes apart and should have nearly identical birth charts, whether they are identical or fraternal twins, behave differently under similar circumstances. Free will, and they have different souls.

Astrology is a man-made construct that has been misused throughout history, just like almost everything that contains great power. The man credited with being the first astrologer was Abraham the Patriarch. He was a contributing author to Chapter 5 of the Book of Formation or Sefer Yetzirah.

And just because an energy shows up in our stars does not mean it happens. Even Abraham saw in his stars that he was not destined to have children. Because of his connection with the Creator and the spiritual work he did, he desired, and had a child. That’s really the whole point to astrology. We are not meant to be victims or be compelled by the starts. We are meant to rise above their influence. The stars do not compel, they impel.

And I for one, would like to have as many oars in the water rowing me to my destiny and purpose as I can. The alternative is being tossed about in the Sea of Life without oars in the water or a rudder on the ship. I get seasick really easily!

The Creator has given us a blueprint. Why not use it?

Happy New Year!
